IAC’s Nepotism

Remember IWon? That was the search engine awhile back that gave away prizes to people who used their search engine. It didn’t go over very well. In fact, Ask.com bought it and now controls it. It hasn’t really changed much, but Ask.com is a nice prop.
Well, now IAC, the parent company of Ask.com, IWon, and the others in the family, want to make IWon a social networking tool. Don’t we have enough of those? I mean, I love social networking, but how many social networking sites do we need? Actually, they just want to add a social network to the site. OK, that’s cool.
But something else IAC wants to do is give IWon some Facebook features. That might actually make more sense. But I’ve often wondered just how many people use IWon any way? It seems to me that Ask.com would just do better to convert the IWon users into Ask.com users and close the site down. But that’s just me.
