Social Blogging Goes To The Next Level

Social blogging has stepped up a level with political blogging. As if you don’t get enough in the news and everywhere else online, Twitter has now gone political with Election Site Highlights from both the Presidential nominees and their running mates.

The site features Tweets involving the presidential and vice presidential candidates and apparently there are hundreds of these Tweets coming through at any one time. The Tweets are derived more from the general public than from any of the politicians. It does however provide for an interesting view on what people are really concerned with in this election.

I am sure the marketing and policy gurus from both sides will be monitoring the flow of information very carefully in case anything damaging hits the airwaves. Can you images how viral a juicy tidbit dropped into the Tweets could become?

You can be sure that somewhere along the line some smart marketing person will find a way to market their site using these Tweets. How successful it will be, who knows. But they will try. It’s human nature. If you a political animal and want to see what all the fuss is about then pop over and have a look – everyone’s Tweeting about something.

Google Reader Expanding Its Friend Sharing Features

If you use Google Reader then you will probably be aware of the controversy that occurred at the beginning of the year when friend sharing meant you were sharing a lot more than perhaps you wanted too. Google addressed that issue and now they have added a few more features.

One of the big changes is that Friend Sharing can now be done worldwide in any of the supported languages. Other changes include the ability to tag whilst sharing or noting. This is especially useful if you use lots of tags to organize your posts.

You can now also choose between alphabetical ordering or drag n’ drop ordering for your subscription list. This is handy if you have a lot of subscriptions in your reader.

Previous changes made it easier to manage who shares with you. When someone decides to share with you, you get a notification and the ability to preview and subscribe to their shared items. With the new features, you can share it worldwide in a number of languages.

I know there are some individuals who swear by Google Reader to distribute their blog content every time they post a new article. It is not really a feature that I have felt compelled to use yet.
